Early autumn and the warmth of summer lingers on. On the sunny slopes the vendemmia (grape harvest) and winemaking begin, while in the poplar and hazel woods the white truffle season has begun. With the help of a truffle hunter and his dog, you experience the thrill of discovering this gastronome’s treasure. If you're not in the vineyards or the woods, then this is the month for Lucca, its solemn procession through candlelit streets and exhibitions and markets in every piazza and even atop its Renaissance walls
